The International Foundation Year (IFY) is an A-Level equivalent qualification designed to prepare students for direct entry into undergraduate degree programmes at universities in the UK and around the world.

Offered online through ICE Global, the IFY is ideal for students who have completed O-Levels, Matriculation, or equivalent qualifications and are seeking a fast-track, internationally recognised pathway to university. This one-year programme builds the academic skills, subject knowledge, and English language proficiency required for success at the undergraduate level.

What will I study?

The Level 3 Diploma in Pre U Foundation Studies consists of 3 mandatory units and 3 optional units for a combined total of 120 credits.

Foundation Mathematics (Mandatory) (20 Credits)

This module covers essential mathematical concepts, including algebra, calculus, and statistics, to develop problem-solving and analytical skills. Students will apply mathematical techniques to real-world scenarios in various disciplines.

Foundation Computing (Mandatory) (20 Credits)

This module introduces fundamental computing concepts, including programming, databases, and data structures. Students will develop practical skills in coding, problem-solving, and IT applications relevant to modern technology.

Foundation Study Skills (Mandatory) (20 Credits)

This module enhances academic skills such as critical thinking, research methodologies, and effective communication. Students will learn to structure essays, analyze information, and present their findings.

Foundation Business Management (Optional) (20 Credits)

This module provides an introduction to key business principles, including management strategies, marketing, and organizational behavior. Students will explore how businesses operate in a global environment.

Foundation Psychology (Optional) (20 Credits)

Explore the fundamentals of human behaviour, thought processes, and mental health. This course provides an introduction to key psychological theories and prepares students for further study in psychology, social sciences, or education.

Foundation Economics (Optional) (20 Credits)

This module introduces microeconomics and macroeconomics concepts, including supply and demand, market structures, and economic policies. Students will learn how economic principles influence business and society.

Foundation Accounting (Optional) (20 Credits)

This module covers basic accounting principles, financial statements, and budgeting. Students will develop an understanding of bookkeeping, financial reporting, and business finance management.

Foundation Law (Optional) (20 Credits)

This module explores fundamental legal concepts, including contract law, criminal law, and business law. Students will gain an understanding of how legal systems impact individuals and businesses.

Further Mathematics (Optional) (20 Credits)

This course extends your understanding of mathematical concepts, including advanced algebra, calculus, and statistics. It is ideal for students aiming for degrees in engineering, computer science, economics, or mathematics-related fields.

Foundation Sociology (Optional) (20 Credits)

Entry Criteria

Must have completed

  •  IB MYP / O-Levels, and/or acceptable equivalent course
  • Level 2/First Diploma (in a relevant subject with merit or distinction)
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification, or relevant experience (for mature applicants)(International Students).

Candidates should also have english speaking, listening, reading, and writing ability which is commensurate to CEFR Level B1 (or equivalent). This is to ensure they meet the communication requirements for this qualification.

What is IFY?

The International Foundation Year (Level 3) programme is designed to help candidates in developing their understanding and knowledge of the pathway they wish to pursue at the Higher Education Level. Students get the opportunity to join International undergraduate degrees and professional certifications or join local universities in Pakistan. This qualification is equivalent to an A- Levels/FSC and anyone with a Matriculation or O’ Levels can apply. Anyone looking into a UG degree abroad can also apply if they are struggling with their grades in A-levels or FSC.

How many subjects are being offered?

The overall qualification requires you to complete 6 modules. The first 3 modules; Foundation Mathematics, Foundation Computing, and Foundation Study Skills are compulsory. The learner can choose any combination from the list of electives shared at the time of admission. The first 3 modules are offered in the first semester and the learner can pick the next 3 modules in the second semester. The learners have a variety of subjects to choose from: Law, Psychology, Government and Politics, Further Mathematics, Business Management, Accounting, and Economics.

What are the eligibility criteria?

Candidates should have:

  • Must have completed Matric / O-Levels, and/or acceptable equivalent course
  • Level 2/First Diploma (in a relevant subject with merit or distinction)
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification, or relevant experience (for mature applicants)(International Students).

Candidates should also have speaking, listening, reading, and writing ability which is commensurate to CEFR Level B1 (or equivalent). This is to ensure they meet the communication requirements for this qualification.

What is the method of assessment??

The assessment consists of written assessments externally set by the Awarding Body. The marking of assessments will be carried out in accordance with the assessment criteria listed in the assessments through the academic department. Once the assessments are complete, students’ results are based on the Distinction/Merit/Pass/Fail criterion. There are no exams.
